Welcome to The Not-so-secret Life of Sarah Baird

I was waiting outside of my church bishop’s office when Lorin approached me and asked me out on a date. The first words out of my mouth were, “I have a boyfriend.” It was a really awkward moment, but in the end, I couldn't resist his good looks and charming personality, so I broke up with the boyfriend and asked Lorin out on a date a couple weeks later. We were married in August of 2010 and now we have our sweet (but sassy), blue-eyed Miranda who insists on only eating dry Top Ramen and dancing on our dining room table.

Lorin and I both graduated from BYU-Idaho—Lorin with a BA in physics and me with a BA in English-professional writing. Lorin is now a physics PhD candidate at NC State and I stay at home with Miranda and also work from home as a grant writer for a K-12 school. Miranda has a degree in potty training and is an aspiring back up dancer for the children’s musical group, The Wiggles.

Apart from school and work, Lorin and I are hardcore laser taggers, board gamers, and living room dancers. For Lorin, some additional hobbies are cooking, playing piano, eating, and reading science fiction books. I love doing yoga, reading, and getting out for girls’ nights whenever possible. I also help out as an editor for an AWESOME speculative fiction e-zine called Quantum Fairy Tales.  Miranda’s favorite hobbies are coloring, ballet, petting cats, and going to the park.

We have been living in North Carolina since August of 2012 and have decided that this place is too green and beautiful to leave any time soon.

  1. Hi Sarah- found you through bloggy moms. Your post immediately caught my attention because I was born in Raleigh, NC (long long time ago) and my dad was a prof at NC State (he taught Mathematics)...we are still Wolf Pack fans. I now live up in NJ with my three kids (14,12 & 8). Enjoy your time with Miranda because they really do grow up fast! I hope you get a chance to stop by my blog....although the issues I discuss are more geared to parents with older children...I would still love your input!

  2. That is so cool that you are from Raleigh! We love it here. I always tell my husband that I wouldn't mind being here permanently. I stopped by your blog, and I loved it. I'm looking forward to reading more.

  3. Hello Sarah,

Wish you and your family all the happiness in the world.

What are your thoughts, my friends?
